The First Empower Cherokee Scholarship in honor of Martha Causey

For the 2022-2023 school year, Empower Cherokee in memory of Martha Causey, deceased CCSD teacher and Board Member of Empower Cherokee, recognized a future educator by providing a $2500.00 scholarship. Ms. Causey taught special education at Cherokee High School. Martha’s career was her “calling,” and she was totally committed to her students. Families of the students she served held her in high regard for the care and improvement she gave to their children. She was recognized for her exemplary dedication and compassion when she was honored with the coveted “Teacher of the Year” award; and later, a street on campus was named after her by the Cherokee County School District. This scholarship will be awarded to a Cherokee High School graduate each year who plans to attend college to receive a degree in Education. Natali Brock was a standout applicant in the Teacher Career Pathway at Cherokee High and will attend Kennesaw State University.
