Empower Cherokee Updates Week of 10/12/2020

Empower Cherokee has several things happening right now. This notice is intended to highlight them.

Music Therapy

Chelsea, our music therapist, is "zooming" out of town next week, so she asked that we adjust the schedule to accommodate her travels. Music Therapy via Zoom will be at the following dates and times next week:

Monday 10-19 1-2 PM

Wednesday 10-21 1-2 PM

Holiday Giving Programs

Leading by Feeding

The can food drive, leading by feeding has been extended to October 30th. This is an additional 2 weeks to turn in food to the Cherokee Chamber. If you are interested in donating, items can be dropped off at either program location. We welcome donations from Anyone so spread the word.

Sock Drive and Angel Tree Child

Eagle Point Campus is adding to the holiday giving options. The Eagle Point campus is collecting Socks and Blankets, and they will sponsor a child for Christmas this year. If you want to know more about their giving initiatives contact Kelly at Kelly.Flanagan@empowercherokee.org

Surveys

This is a reminder that it is a survey season. As of today, Empower has received the following responses:

  • Family and Caregiver Survey - 17

  • Community Member Survey - 7

  • People Supported Survey - 5

Empower Cherokee really needs your help. The survey averages 4 minutes to take no matter which version fits you.

  • We would like to see 100% of our caregivers surveyed, even if you are not currently using our services due to COVID.

  • There is a second survey for community members, please take a moment to fill it out if you have partnered with us in the past, know someone in our program, or are aware of our services please participate.

  • Last but not least, all people supported have a right and responsibility to take the survey as well. It is ok to have a trusted friend or family member assist if necessary to fill it out.

If you put your name on the survey (optional) you will be entered in a drawing to win a prize!!!

Thank you for your continued support of Empower Cherokee, and for helping us empower people to live life as they define it.

CARF

CARF will return to survey our organization on November 12-13th, this year, however, to remain in compliance with our covid guidelines, they will be conducting the accreditation survey virtually. For people supported and caregivers, this means that we will continue to uphold our COVID-19 standards of service but that you may be asked to participate in a video call to be interviewed by the surveyors. We hope you will accept this invitation to answer openly and honestly. The survey is intended to keep us on a pattern of continuous quality improvement. COVID-19 and Precautions

Empower Cherokee continues to be dedicated to following recommended guidelines for providing services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Given that the state of Georgia is still under a state of emergency, and our most fragile community members are still sheltering in place. Empower Cherokee will continue to follow the guidelines provided to all staff and caregivers in July just before opening the program up again. We recognize that this can be an inconvenience for all, however, there are reasons for every guideline related to the health and safety of everyone in our program. Please click the link to refresh yourselves on our COVID-19 Guidelines for Reopening.
